The U.S. Department of justice issued a press release, according to which responsibility for the hacking of Yahoo and the theft of data 500 million users in 2014 lies on the "Russian hackers".
Law enforcement officers say that the stolen data has been used to illegally access accounts from Yahoo, Google and other email providers. It is reported that hackers have gained access to the accounts of 6500 users, including Russian journalists, employees of various companies (in a press release, said French transport company, the Russian investment company, a Swiss company involved in Bitcoin, and so on), including dealing with cybersecurity, as well as Russian and American officials.
In hacking Yahoo, the U.S. justice Department suspects:
Dmitry Dokuchaev, worker of the Department of information security Center of the FSB, who was arrested in December 2016 in the case of high treason;
Yegor Susina – one more employee of FSB. According to the Ministry, is another head Dokuchaev, and also the head of security service of one of the Russian banks;
Alexey Belan, also known as Magg. The Ministry of justice reports that the hacker, who was born in Latvia, has Russian citizenship and is in the FBI's most wanted list of criminals.
