method i use is mostly with own interest and not with ppl ercomend. Just buy cheap one of genre you like. and keep spending in chunk.
never miss winter sale on steam to leech on good offers.

I normally see if i really gonna play that specific game. normally wait for new year, winter, summer sale offers on steam.
also watch out for humblebundle offers, they got great deals. buy only thing which you gonna play.
