Same here. I know a tiny bit about it, but I want to learn from the pros.
yup me too
start from assembler...
cracking is easy, unless the programmer of the software is cracker or knows how it goes. if the software is not obfuscated or written in a really abstract way then it is easy to reverse. there are two ways mostly, skipping a jump or finding the key pattern or key. there must be a condition that has to turn out to be true or false for the software to be activated, your job is to find that and reverse its operation, where it would turn out to be true if the serial entered is false, that would make it turn out false if the right serial is entered too, which is funny. the easy way if the software is not obfuscated is to search for the error message or string and follow its address and edit the nearby conditional jmp to reverse its operation. let me know if you need any help
actually, i might have misunderstood, if you just meant cracking hashes then you just need to look them up in online hash dictionaries or attack it with a dictionary, it's pretty simple, but it only works if the pass or thing you're trying to decrypt isn't that strong, like if it's a credit card number given that it's just numbers, it just takes a while since it's long, but you could make the first 4 letters static since they just determine the type of card and there are only a couple. if it's a password then it would be harder the longer it is and the more symbols are there, a dictionary covering all password would take a lot of space and time to throw it on the hash
me too friend
